Football fans in Muscat will be able to grab a selfie with the Premier League trophy later today, when the cup goes on display at Oman Avenues Mall.
According to the British Embassy’s official Twitter account, the silverware will be on show for two hours between 7 and 9 this evening.
As well as being able to have their photograph taken with the cup, fans will have an opportunity to enter a prize draw for the chance to win Liverpool FC and Manchester City football shirts.
The visit has been organised by the British Council, the Oman Football Association and the Premier League as part of a youth skills programme. Premier Skills is an international initiative that uses football as a tool to engage with young people and develop key skills.
Members of Bournemouth football club’s Community Sports Trust team are also in Oman to support the trophy’s visit.
Steve Cuss, head of community, and Andrew Battison, a senior manager at the trust, have both travelled to Oman and will spend a number of days meeting football coaches and local youngsters.
Speaking AFC Bournemouth’s club website about the trip, Mr Cuss said: “Premier League Skills is a fantastic project to engage with coaches all over the world.“We are honoured to be asked to deliver Premier League skills in Oman for the first time and look forward to promoting AFC Bournemouth to a wider audience.”
